What is an IP address?
An IP address, or Internet Protocol address, is a series of numbers that identifies any device on a network. Computers use IP addresses to communicate with each other both over the internet as well as on other networks.
Why do we need your IP address?
Like many internet enabled services, your access to OpenCorporates originates from an IP address. Although we don’t store your IP address it is useful for the purposes of finding your specific requests so we can triage your issues. Due to the high volume of traffic that OpenCorporates experiences we need help in finding the needle in the haystack.
How do i determine my IP address?
There are many IP addresses associated with your computer, internal network and your public facing IP address. It is the public facing IP address that we are looking for, in order to find it simply and easily, you can ask your IT team for your IP address, or IP Range (of you operate more than one) or you can use a tool like this: https://whatismyipaddress.com and note down the IPv4 address that is presented.
