If we are informed that an official public register has removed (or limited access to) certain information about a person connected to a company due to exceptional circumstances (for example, because of a serious risk to personal safety), we will:

  • Update the OpenCorporates records in a timely manner; and
  • Institute a procedure for temporarily removing the relevant information from the OpenCorporates records while this is being carried out.

(see Why has a record been temporarily redacted? for more information).

If you would like us to temporarily redact your information while the record is being amended, please contact us here stating:

  • Your position within the entity
  • The reason for instituting the procedure
  • The steps you are taking with the public register to amend the information on the public record

Please note that temporary redaction lasts for 4 weeks and if we do not hear from you after this time period, then the entity information will automatically become visible again. Temporary redaction can be extended if proof that the procedure of changing the record is ongoing.

It is important to note that redacting your name and address from our website would not allay any risk to you, as this information would still be readily available in the public domain.  As such, in instances where there is a credible threat to you and the information has not been updated at the registry, you should immediately inform the relevant national register and ask that they amend and/or redact their records.

Please see our Public Records Privacy Policy for more details.
